Office of registration and loans

The Office of Registration and Loans carries out activities corresponding to the permanent collection management of Anglo-Saxon [English/speaking] museums. It manages the permanent collections of the National Gallery and of the linked museums from the moment the art enters the institution, across the diverse types of acquisitions.
The office also manages the borrowing of works from other institutions for exhibitions and events.

Acquisitions:

The Sorprintendenza permanently acquires its works through:

- donations

- assimilations

- bequests

- divestitures

Offers as gifts, for sale and as transfers, should be referred to the Soprintendenza.
Each one of the processes undergoes the authorization of the Ministry of Cultural Treasures and of cultural activities and Tourism.

Loans

The Soprintendenza lends its works - temporarily or long-term - for exhibitions and events. Requests for loans must be submitted to the Soprintendenza at least a year in advance for international locations and at least six months in advance for Italy.
The loans are put under review for authorization from the Ministry of Cultural Treasures and of cultural activities and Tourism.
